Variation

SYNOPSIS

Variation is an emotional, character-driven story about Allie Rousseau, a professional ballerina whose life is built on perfection until an injury forces her to return home and confront her past. There, she reconnects with Hudson Ellis—the boy who once saved her life and later broke her heart—bringing back unresolved feelings and buried secrets from a decade ago. As they are pulled back into each other’s lives, especially through Hudson’s family, the story explores themes of love, trauma, and second chances. Set against the intense and demanding world of ballet, the novel highlights the pressure of expectations and the journey of healing, ultimately showing how Allie must learn to let go of guilt and choose her own path—her own “variation”—in life.
